I did actually think about that convo in passing. I think I’d always been pretty fond of kids (er, that doesn’t sound quite right!) but becoming a parent definitely does change you. I think I’ve been a pretty selfish person a lot of my life and, while I haven’t totally got rid of that bad quality, I’ve certainly reduced it.

Everyone’s different, though. Some of my friends were never that interested in kids and completely changed.

I know what you mean about the time and energy for online squabbles by the way …

My whole life has changed a lot in the past months pre and post birth. I always remember the argument we had in this thread almost two years ago http://mykafkaesquelife.blogspot.com/2011/07/social-networks-are-becoming-boring.html when I was a completely different person. Now I can’t get enough to see babies and I’m holding myself back not to talk about them all the time with people who are not yet parents Parenthood made me mature, made me shift positions on many things and made me less eager to engage in arguments online (I barely have time or the energy). Now I’m just anticipating the end of sleep deprivation in hope that all latter stages will be easier (I know they won’t) But I’ll probably better equipped to deal with it (now I’m still a newbie).

So, you’re a daddy, now, eh? I’ll have to check out your blog on your baby girl later. It is indeed hard work but it’ll get easier. Once they sleepless night are over, though, you’ll have the next stage to look forward to when they start toddling around and getting into everything, then the questions, backchat, sulking and petulance! Haha.

Nah, it’s no walk in the park, to be sure, but – at it’s best – there’s nothing better.

Have to say, the museum is pretty rubbish, to be honest, but you can always watch the film and get the free CDs with the books on.
